The electricity price alert is based on spot prices, without VAT, so that it may be possible to plan electricity use.

ELECTRICITY PRICE ALERT: Ane Nyrerød makes clear electricity calls for this week. Photo: Good Morning Norway/TV 2

– We really want the prices to be the same as the electricity bill that people get, but that is almost impossible. That’s because it’s made up of so many parts. Electricity subsidy which is not calculated until the end of the month, the electricity tax which is the three most expensive hours of the month and so on, explains weather anchor on TV 2, Ane Nyrerød and continues:

– So now we go for the spot price, which is the true price set by our electricity exchange.

– Can be cheaper and more expensive

The forecast for the coming week is made by StormGeo, which shows that there is one particular day where the prices are the highest.

– It is important to say that this is the average price per day. Because there is a price for every single hour of the day and we know that it can vary quite a lot. So there can be cheaper and more expensive hours than this.

Prices will increase throughout the week, and below are the forecasts for the next six days.

Wednesday, forecast:

WEDNESDAY: - There is an upward trend. Photo: StormGeo/Good morning Norway

– This is then a forecast, a warning from StormGeo. It’s going up a little, not very much, marginally up – but it’s an upward trend.

Thursday, forecast – note in central Norway:

THURSDAY: - It will be cold from Wednesday to Thursday in central Norway and this may help to influence prices. Photo: StormGeo/Good morning Norway

– On Thursday, they must be very careful in central Norway, because then the price jumps up to almost NOK 1.5 in spot price. It will be very cold from Wednesday to Thursday in central Norway and that may help to decide this, explains Nyrerød.

– It is also going up a bit in southern Norway, we are approaching NOK 2.

Friday, forecast – most expensive in southern Norway:

FRIDAY: - Friday is the most expensive day in southern Norway. Photo: StormGeo/Good morning Norway

Friday’s forecast shows that it will decrease slightly in both northern and central Norway, but not in the south.

– Friday is the most expensive day in southern Norway, you can prepare for that. Then we are just under NOK 2 in southern Norway.

Weekend forecast:

WEEKEND: Electricity prices are lower at the weekend. Photo: StormGeo/Good morning Norway

Ane Nyrerød says that prices are very often lower at weekends.

– And it will be now too. There is quite a small difference between Saturday and Sunday, perhaps slightly lower prices on Sunday – at least in southern Norway.

Monday, forecast:

NEXT MONDAY:: - It is marginally up on Monday. Photo: StormGeo/Good morning Norway

NEXT MONDAY:: – It is marginally up on Monday. Photo: StormGeo/Good morning Norway

It is often the case that prices go up a bit again when the week starts again – according to Nyrerød.

– But it is marginally up on Monday. The reason why there is a slight upward trend this week is that it will be much colder in central Europe than it has been until now. It has been very mild there. So maybe slightly higher prices this week than there were, but nothing close to the monster week in December.

– So the forecasts for the next few days are not too bad.
