One dead, two injured after small plane crash at North Perry airport

One dead and two injured after a small plane crashed at North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines around noon Friday, authorities confirmed.

Pembroke Pines firefighters responded to the emergency and said the incident occurred during takeoff when the Cessna plane with the pilot and 2 passengers crashed.

As a result of the incident, there was one fatality on the scene, while the other two were seriously injured. Both patients had to be removed from the aircraft and were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital.

There was a small fuel leak that was contained by rescue teams and there were no other hazards or injuries in this incident.

The causes of the accident are under investigation.

Images from Telemundo 51 showed the plane with severe damage in a grassy area of ​​the airport. One person was seen being placed on a stretcher and placed in the back of an ambulance.

Pembroke Pines police said officers were assisting with a plane crash at the North Perry airport. “The accident occurred on North Perry Airport property and did not affect any homes, businesses or our roads outside the airport. The scene remains active as airport and fire rescue personnel investigate.”
