GA large part of the conversation about Mars exploration in recent years has focused on the Perseverance rover, with those keen to remember that there is another rover exploring the ‘Red Planet’.

The Curiosity rover arrived on Mars in 2012 and, taking this into account, it is natural that it is not as robust or has the same capabilities as the ‘little brother’. However, says the Digital Trends website that NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory has just released a new update that will make the rover faster.

This update, the first in seven years, allows Curiosity to process the image from its cameras more quickly. In this way, the computer on board the rover will be able to plan a safe route to the destination more quickly.
