Since 1999, the actress Mayumi Tanaka She has lent her voice to the charismatic and wacky Monkey D. Luffy on television, film, and video games, turning the character into an extension of herself. More than two decades later, and on the occasion of the One Piece Live Action premiere on Netflix, Tanaka gives us an additional reason to watch the series and, especially, to those of us who have followed it in the original version with subtitles: the full cast of actors will have their corresponding original Japanese voices.
On the occasion of Anime Expo 23Netflix announced several of its novelties for the summer and a very special video was saved: the unexpected meeting between Inaki Godoy, who will play Luffy in the new series, and the legendary Tanaka who has been full of praise for the young Mexican praising his work, his treatment of the character and even crowning him with his own straw hat. As Godoy assured, he himself and Taz Skylar will respectively voice Luffy and Sanji in Spanish. Or, at least, in the Spanish version of Latin America. Added advantages to having an Iñaki Godoy born in Mexico since, despite the fact that Taz started his career in the United Kingdom, he was born and raised in Tenerife. And what about the Spanish version of One Piece?
