Apple has reportedly canceled the next iPhone SE – so there will be no update of the cheaper entry-level iPhone in 2024 either. That comes as quite a surprise, but should simply depend on customer demand.

This is reported by the always well-informed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via The Verge). According to his information, iPhone SE fans may have to wait a long time before there will be a new entry-level iPhone.

Kuo bases his forecasts on sources in the supply chain. Kuo wrote on Friday that Apple has already canceled production and delivery plans for the phone. Last month, Kuo had predicted just that. However, Kuo did not give any details about the iPhone SE plans.

Long time until the new edition

Kuo suspects that the main reason behind the cancellation of the iPhone SE may be that Apple’s low-end smartphones are simply selling far below the company’s hopes. In addition, Apple had already let some time pass after the first edition before the iPhone SE2 appeared. Again, this is based around other, older reports from Bloomberg. There it said that the demand for the iPhone 14 Pros has so far been greater than that for the regular iPhone 14. However, it does not mean that Apple will abandon the strategy with cheaper devices – it only seems to be adapting to the fact that price-sensitive buyers are adapting don’t allow yourself a new device every one to two years, but rather wait longer before purchasing one.

Right time for bargain hunters?

The currently difficult economic times for many would be a perfect time for Apple to focus on inexpensive series.
