Oscar 2023 | Meet the nominees for the biggest film awards

The beginning of the new year is approaching and expectations are rising to find out which films will be nominated for the 2023 Oscar.

Among the names are Not! Do not look!by director Jordan Peele (famous for Run! and We?? Avatar: The Way of Water?? Black Panther: Wakanda Forever After and the acclaimed The Woman King, which appears in the Best Soundtrack category.

In Best International Film, the highlight goes to Argentina, 1958 (from Argentina), Close (from Belgium) and Nothing New on the Front (from Germany). Unfortunately the long miner mars onewho was quoted to represent Brazil, was left out of the award.

Brazil at the Oscars

Despite the feature film by director Gabriel Martins not being selected in the Best International Film category, Brazil still has a chance to compete for a statuette.

The country is listed as a co-producer of The Territorya documentary made in partnership with the United States and Denmark that talks about the struggle of the Amazonian Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau people against the occupation of protected lands.

Beyond, sidereal, by director Carlos Segundo, was also pre-selected in the Best Live Action Short Film category. The work was filmed in Rio Grande do Norte and talks about the launch of the first manned space mission in Brazil and its consequences for a simple family that lives in the region.

Best Singers at the Oscars 2023

In the dispute for the statuette in the Best Original Song category, four names already known to the public stand out. They are: Taylor Swift with Carolina (made for the film A Place Far From Here), Lady Gaga with Hold My Hand (from the film Top Gun: Maverick), Selena Gomez with My Mind and Me (theme of her documentary) and Rihanna with Lift Me Up (from the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever After??

When is the definitive list of Oscar 2023 nominees coming out?

It is worth remembering that this pre-selection only shows the names with a possible chance of running for the Oscar. Now the Academy will vote on its favorites and only five from each category will be chosen for the ceremony.

The official list will be announced on January 24th, and the Oscars 2023 ceremony will be held on March 12th.
