For this, the doctor Lucas Sampaio, affiliated to the Brazilian Association of Otorhinolaryngology and Cervico-Facial Surgery (ABORL-CCF), clarifies how to differentiate some of these diseases — such as, for example, otitis media, sinusitis and allergic rhinitis.
Otitis media usually appears during autumn and winter, preferably in children who have a cold, the flu, or a respiratory or throat infection. “The organism is more fragile and, therefore, these bacteria and viruses that reside in the airways move to the middle ear and proliferate”, explains the doctor.
