• customer outraged on Facebook about prices at Kaufland
  • In his opinion, curry ketchup is far too expensive
  • Kaufland reacted to the post

In the past few months, the prices of many groceries have risen in supermarkets and shops. The Federal Statistical Office recently published a list of 20 foods that have become much more expensive in 2022, including flour, sugar and pasta. But another product has apparently become more expensive and is now causing trouble: curry ketchup.

Too high a price? Kaufland customer outraged by expensive curry ketchup

“I got 1.79 for my last bottle [Euro, Anmerkung der Redaktion] paid,” writes the man on Facebook. In his post you can see a photo of a pallet full of “spice ketchup curry” from the well-known brand “Hela” – and with a price of 3.39 euros per 800 gram pack. ” Wann is ma end of the road‘ the customer complains.

However, the popular ketchup is also available on the manufacturer’s website for 3.39 euros. Kaufland does not charge an above-average amount of money for the goods. So how did the price jump come about? Presumably through an action: dealers offer the ketchup at irregular intervals at a bargain price – which in the past was often around 1.79 euros. The actual price of the curry ketchup has not doubled within a short time, as the angry Kaufland customer suspects.

Under the Facebook post, however, many people criticize the high costs: “Honestly, I no longer buy the overpriced food, then the manufacturer should sit on it, because he probably just wants to make a profit,” says one user. “If it’s too expensive for you, just don’t buy it anymore,” agrees another user. Another has a creative solution to the problem: just “make the ketchup yourself”.

Kaufland reacts to a Facebook post – and asks for feedback

Kaufland itself also responded to the post: “Thank you for your feedback because pricing is important to us“, says the social media team. “In addition to the many offers that we post weekly, we are of course happy to receive your feedback”. The customer should contact Kaufland via direct message – so the request can be forwarded to customer management will.

The online portal merkur.de reported about it first.
