Diabetes medicine is the first that “really works” for people to lose weight. But there is a bizarre side effect.
THE Ozempic is a medicine for diabetes, which must be combined with diet and exercise. It is aimed at people with type 2 diabetes.
It can be used as monotherapy (single medicine) in patients who cannot take metformin (another medicine for diabetes).
It can also be used as an adjunct (add-on) to other diabetes medications, adds European Medicines Agency.
Ozempic has already become famous in Portugal: it started to be used for lose weight. Improper use.

The active substance of this drug, the semaglutideis sold in an injectable pen and has gone viral through social media – especially in the TikTokwhere some celebrities began to announce that they were losing weight thanks to the drug.
Marc Siegel, physician and physicist, admitted in the Fox News that Ozempic is the first medicine that “really works” to lose weight.
“It’s a great medicine. It actually improves insulin, improves sugar elimination, decreases hunger…”, he explained.
However, there is a side effect particularly bizarre: makes people look older.
“I spoke to a few dermatologists about it. It is a result of overuse of the drug to lose weight too quickly. The buccal mucosa – the fat – leaves your face and yourself with a appearance more slim.”

And, warned the teacher, this side effect can be irreversible.
