Jerusalem: A Palestinian man wielding a knife shot and wounded an Israeli resident in a settlement in the occupied West Bank, Israeli officials said.
Israel’s Magen David Adom rescue service said in a statement on Wednesday that a 30-year-old Israeli man was stabbed in the southern West Bank by a Palestinian resident of the town of Ad-Dhahriya, near the flashpoint city of Hebron.
The rescue service said the Israeli casualty suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
State-owned Kan TV News reported that the attacker was shot and killed by a civilian passerby.
The attack took place at Yehuda Farm, an illegal outpost near Hebron, Xinhua news agency reported.
Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli troops killed a 21-year-old Palestinian man during an arrest raid in the Balata refugee camp in the northern West Bank, according to a statement issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The incidents were the latest in a spate of violence in the West Bank, territory occupied by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war. Israel continues to control the territory despite the Palestinian conflict and international criticism.
