MINORCA.- He cuban musician jazz, saxophonist and clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera is the most international proposal of the sixth edition of the Splendid Festival organized by the Teatro Principal de Maó, where he will perform on August 8 accompanied by the Cuban pianist Pepe Rivero, the Colombian vibraphonist Sebastián Laverde and the Ibizan singer Ángela Cervantes.
For his part, the illusionist winner of the Golden Magic Wand in Monaco and the Siegfried and Roy award in Las Vegas, Jorge Blass, will be in charge of opening the festival on July 10. The program also includes concerts starring the Spanish singer, actor and visual artist Zenet, who will perform on July 18, and Martirio with Chano Domínguez Trío, whose performance will take place on August 22.
On the other hand, the Teatro Principal will also host two musical proposals during the months of July and August as part of the 51st Maó Musical Youth Festival. On July 4th it will be performed Romantics: La 5th by Chaikovski, a concert performed by the Illa de Menorca Chamber Orchestra and on August 14 there will be an evening of jazz starring Èlia Bastida Quartet.

The manager of the Maó Principal Theater Foundation, Nieves Portas, and the mayor, Héctor Pons, presented the coliseum’s programming for this summer.

Portas also reported on the return of free and guided visits to the oldest opera house in Spain (1829), which will take place starting in June and will continue until September. Likewise, among the new features this summer, he highlighted the implementation of redeemable gift cards for any show or concert performed at the theater. “The proposal is aimed at giving unique and unforgettable experiences and offering a different and original proposal of giving art to our loved ones, family and friends, or simply to a person who wants to be surprised,” said the manager.
Finally, he indicated that the possibility of purchasing programming tickets with the usual discounts directly on the digital sales platform will also be implemented soon, without having to go to the theater box office.
