Paris, France.- A man attacked six people yesterday with a knife at a Paris train station.

The attacker, who is in custody, could be of Algerian or Libyan nationality, reported the Paris Prosecutor, Laure Beccuau.

“Precise identification is ongoing,” he added in a statement.

A police source had said that the subject was born in Libya in 2000, arrived in France three years ago, and had an Order to Leave French Territory.

French authorities do not expel to Libya because of political instability in that country, the Interior Ministry said.

The attack took place at 6:45 a.m. local time at the busy Gare du Nord train station. The Police intervened and arrested the suspect, who suffered some bullet wounds from the agents, for which he was taken to surgery.

Investigators have not been able to question him given his condition, Beccau said.

The injured are two men, aged 36 and 41, three women aged 40, 47 and 53, and a 56-year-old police officer. Only one of them remained hospitalized without his life being at risk.

The Gare du Nord station is the third busiest in the world, with 700,000 daily.
