Parties at Airbnb houses leave the balance of teenagers shot in different incidents

A 13-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy were shot and injured after participating in a party at an Airbnb rental that turned violent in the Brewerytown neighborhood of Philadelphia.

The incident was reported to have taken place in the 1700 block of N. 29th Street just after 11:50 pm Monday.

Philadelphia Police said they responded to the emergency after multiple calls of a shooting on or near the structure’s premises. Upon arrival, they were given the task of dispersing “30 to 40 individuals who were inside and outside the property, most of them teenagers,” according to Capt. Nicolas DeBlasis.

Here’s what we know from the research:

  • The minor, 13 years old, sustained bullets in the buttocks in the corner of where the rental house is located. She was transported to the hospital and admitted in stable condition.
  • The 18-year-old boy arrived at the hospital by private vehicle with bullets in both legs. He was admitted in critical condition.
  • Bullet casings were found at the scene and inside the house.

Just before 10:00 p.m. another similar incident, at an Airbnb rental, was reported in the Kensington neighborhood. There a young man, 18 years old, was shot in the 2000 block of Amber Street. So far it is unknown if the incidents are related, but they were two different parties in different locations.

Both incidents are under investigation. No weapons have been recovered or any clues to the suspect(s) have been revealed. The investigation remains active.
