Two Colorado cities postpone their fireworks shows due to the possibility of storms

DENVER, Colorado – The City of Golden and the Town of Estes Park have postponed their Independence Day fireworks displays as a precaution due to the potential risk of severe weather for today’s afternoon and evening.

The 4th of July fireworks display in Estes Park has been moved to Saturday, July 15. Golden has announced that her show will take place later in the summer.

“Due to the severe weather forecast for tonight, the Town of Estes Park has postponed the Independence Day Fireworks Show,” officials announced in a tweet. “This decision was made out of concern for the safety of spectators and event staff. The show has been rescheduled for July 15, 2023 at 9:30 p.m.

“Due to severe weather forecasts, the City of Golden has decided to reschedule the fireworks for later in the summer,” officials in Golden said. “Our highest priority is the safety of our community and those who come to enjoy the creek and the Lions Club Festival.”

Highlands Ranch was another of the cities that canceled its annual fireworks display also due to the possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, authorities said in a news release.
