Search for more victims: Tulare sexual assault suspect arrested

TULARE, California – Tulare County authorities are searching for more victims of possible sexual assault after they apprehended a man who allegedly raped a minor last year.

In March 2022, Tulare Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to an area school to investigate a report of an alleged rape.

The 13-year-old victim told officers that she had been raped by an unknown man on two separate occasions between December 2021 and March 2022.

During the week of June 28, 2023, detectives identified the suspect as Santiago Iñiguez, 30, of Tulare.

The SWAT team, the Special Victims Unit, the Homicide Unit and the General Investigations Unit executed an arrest warrant at a home in Tulare, and Santiago was taken into custody without incident.

In addition, two other arrests unrelated to the investigation were made and several firearms were recovered.

During their investigation, detectives found information that leads them to believe there are more unidentified child victims, authorities said.

Anyone with information regarding this case or any unreported case may contact Detective John Haro or Sergeant Jessica Zendejas of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department, Special Victims Unit at 559-733-6218.

The suspect had already had several run-ins with the law and was on probation.
