• “Two-class society in old age” complained
  • Every second pensioner gets less than 1000 euros
  • Minimum pension required and pension fund for all workers
  • Pension level should be raised to 53 percent

The left currently sees a two-class society in old age in Germany. So she asks for one Pension fund for everyone and a minimum pension of 1200 euros. The financial differences between annuity and pension are particularly striking. While 70 percent of retirees receive more than 2,000 euros, every second retiree gets less than half nv reported.

Every second pensioner gets less than 1000 euros

Left parliamentary group leader Dietmar Bartsch: “If 82 percent of the pensions in the country are below 1,500 euros, but at the same time more than 70 percent of the pensions are above 2,000 euros, the result is clear: at the end of a long working life there is a two-class society in old age.

According to Bartsch, the pension needs a “general overhaul” in order to be able to secure the standard of living in old age. “It is not the pensions that are too high on average, but the pensions that are too low.” According to him, the minimum pension must be 1,200 euros net.

To achieve this, the politician demands that raise the pension level to 53 percent as a first step. “In another, old-age security should be placed on a new foundation: one Pension fund for all employed persons“, said the Left parliamentary group leader. The self-employed and civil servants would then have to pay into this fund.

Also interesting: women in Bavaria are particularly often affected by absolute poverty in old age.
