Chilean TV presenter Claudia Conserva, 49, showed in a documentary her journey against triple negative breast cancer, one of the most aggressive and difficult to treat. Since June 17, 2022, when she was diagnosed with the malignant tumor, her life has taken a turn.
Triple negative breast cancer accounts for 15% of breast cancer cases. It is more frequent in women under 40, Latina and black. It is also more common in women who have a mutation in the BRCA1 and/or BRCA2 genes.
The tumor is considered aggressive because it grows quickly, has a greater ability to spread, and is more likely to come back after treatment than other types of breast cancer.
Claudia’s documentary is called Brava, premiered on the Televisión Nacional de Chile (TVN) channel and is available at spanish on youtube. The images were taken by the presenter herself with her cell phone during the treatment.

Claudia underwent several chemotherapy sessions. “Even knowing there was no metastasis, she knew it was an aggressive cancer and I went crazy. I disappeared. I died in life”, says the presenter.
She, who started her career on TV at just 16 years old, says that the purpose of publishing the material is to raise awareness about the importance of routine exams for the early detection of breast cancer.
In Brava, the presenter appears being attended to at the clinic, surrounded by the venous catheter and specialists, or being taken from one place to another on a stretcher. “This is the first battle of this war in which I will give absolutely everything to defeat the enemy”, she said in one of the scenes of the documentary.

During treatment, one of the most difficult moments for the presenter was dealing with hair loss and, especially, the moment when she had to shave her head. “I never thought going completely bald would affect me so much. And yes, something changed in me,” she acknowledges in the documentary.
Although her progress has been good, Cláudia is still recovering and away from the screen. In a few public statements in recent months, in March she reinforced that she has no forecast of returning to television.
