Marine Le Pen (RN) and Fadila Khattabi (Renaissance) denounced the intimidation messages received by deputies from their groups on the sidelines of the first day of examination of the text of the pension reform in the National Assembly.

MPs receive threats while the first day of debates on pension reform in the National Assembly is not even over. Speaking around 7 p.m., the president of the National Rally group in the Assembly, Marine Le Pen, wanted to “denounce an extremely serious fact”.

“Four or five of our female MPs have just received a message that one of their children is in hospital,” she said.

The deputy sees it as “a maneuver which aims to prevent or distract the deputies of the National Rally from their presence” so that they cannot vote for the referendum motion tabled by their group. This request for a referendum was rejected a little later, by 272 votes against 101.

“That people dare to use this type of method, I want to say, is lamentable,” she castigated.

Le Pen announces a complaint

“We are going to find who committed this offense because we are obviously going to file a complaint and have the messages analyzed”, then indicated the president of the RN group to the press.

Marine Le Pen criticized a “particularly disgusting maneuver”, with these voice messages addressed to several elected officials, including Anais Sabatini and Laurence Robert-Dehault.

“Obviously they left the hemicycle devastated before realizing that several of them had received these messages (…) The goal was to keep them away from the hemicycle at the appropriate time”, she believes. .

“These are anonymous calls but we will find” the officials, said Monday on BFMTV Jordan Bardella.

The president of the National Rally listened to what he presents as one of these voice messages of threats, where we hear a person say: “I am calling you because one of your relatives has just been admitted urgently to the hospital” . He half-accused the Nupes, explaining that the left-wing coalition “is part of social violence today in our country”. However, he admitted not having “confirmation” of the role of Nupes in these events.

Renaissance deputies also targeted

The RN group is obviously not the only one to have received disturbing messages. Fadila Khattabi, president of the Social Affairs Committee and member of the Renaissance group (majority), affirmed: “at the moment many of us are receiving letters of intimidation”, without specifying whether male deputies were also targeted.

“I received one, with indeed threats to our families, our children,” she continued.

The deputy told BFMTV that she had received a letter of death threats to her children and to “blow up her house” at her office in Dijon. The letter also contained white powder and was sent to a laboratory for expertise.

“It’s absolutely scandalous, we are in a free, democratic Republic, the parliamentarians that we are have no pressure to have regarding a text examination. We must not be intimidated”, hammered the Macronist deputy.

The President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet (Renaissance), asked Marine Le Pen to send her “a copy of the messages received so that we can look at what is going on”.

On Sunday, it was a Les Républicains deputy, Antoine Vermorel-Marques, who said on Twitter that he had received a threatening message. “Be very careful with your vote on pensions. We are watching you closely,” reads the screenshot shared by the deputy.

“Beyond the method, I say it here as I wrote to this individual: my votes can never be influenced by any threat. Never”, warns the elected official.
