Governor Omar Perotti participated this Tuesday in the AmCham Summit 2023, a business meeting with leaders from the public and private sectors, organized by the United States Chamber of Commerce in Argentina, under the slogan “Protagonists of the next Argentina”.

The event calls for referents of the most important public and private sector in the country, with the purpose of discussing the fundamental axes that cross the development of Argentina, within the framework of the 200th anniversary of bilateral relations between Argentina and the United States.

In the activity, which will take place at the Alvear Icon Hotel in Puerto Madero, Perotti was part of the panel: “Federal elections: the provinces and federalism”, together with Alberto Weretilnek.

At the time, Perotti argued that “we need federalism to be real and effective. Today we have a rhetorical narrative rather than an institutional practice in federalism. A reduced look towards the discussion of federalism is whether we have a co-participation law or not. There are many non-economic factors at play today and I think it is good to try to put it on the table with its impact. I do not detract from a discussion on the issue of co-participation. But there is a look and a need”.

“I am optimistic about the future of Argentina because there are sectors with the potential to generate the dollars we need and that are in provinces that many times some considered unfeasible. We must create an opportunity for these resources to balance Argentina’s population and integrate it territorially, because that would give us the possibility of having a country where the AMBA ceases to be an aspirant to give resources and that will create the conditions for a redistribution and more effective demographic policies”, added the governor.

“That -continued Perotti- requires actions to take care of and accompany with all the stimuli to these potential sectors that they surely define as the minerals, lithium, oil, gas, food and the knowledge economy. It is necessary to take care of them for their full expansion and their capture of investments in the shortest possible time. But we must also add that there are risks and one of them is the care that Argentina must take against the growth of crime and drug trafficking.

Then the provincial president stressed that “the 19 national deputies that the province of Santa Fe has agreed on a project to strengthen federal justice in our province. All of different political signs coinciding on other occasions”.

“I think you have to play an active role behind the defense of an integrated country”

“I think you have to have a active role behind the defense of an integrated country. If producing and living in the interior costs much more than in the AMBA, we are complicated. The need for future medium- and long-term agreements requires effort and sacrifice from political leaders from different forces whose prestige probably puts them in that agreement at this juncture, because many may not understand it. If we do not value this type of attitude and we do not generate the necessary accompaniment, there will be fewer and fewer people willing, “concluded the governor.

The meeting was opened by Marc Stanley, United States Ambassador to Argentina; and Jorge Argüello, Argentine ambassador to the United States. The closure was in charge of Sergio Massa, Minister of Economy of the Nation.
