It was a measure that was resolved urgently, to resolve the lack of face-to-face and virtual care. But not anymore. Or at least not like so far.

The Ministry of Health, under Resolution 3622/2022, indicated that the photos of paper prescriptions will no longer be valid because they do not have the registered digital signature of a competent health professional. In other words, WhatsApp recipes will no longer be valid by themselves.

“The previous procedure, through which a patient could send a photo of the prescription, violated a series of laws, such as the Pharmacy Law, the Professional Practice Law”, among others, explained to Infobae the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Hello, Sonia Tarragona.

It is worth clarifying that if a health professional signs a prescription digitally, it is because “the signature is registered and has the competence to issue a prescription and a prescription”.

The photos of the paper recipes “do not have the validated signature or registration of the professional who makes them,” he said.

“Yes, of course, the digital prescription continues to be validated, in fact there is an electronic prescription law, which is not yet regulated due to a series of complexities,” agreed the official, referring to the text approved in August 2020.

In this way, although it is not a strict return to the old papers, it is true that this comes to put an order to the deregulation that had been caused by the pandemic.
