The Muldental is one of the lesser-known regions of East Germany. It is part of the Mittelsächsisches Hügelland. Roughly speaking, the Muldental lies between Leipzig, Chemnitz and Dresden. Although it is not an official name, the Freiberger and Zwickauer Mulde or, after their confluence, the United Mulde, are the defining rivers of the region.

The landscape of the Muldental is not only extremely varied, but here it is still possible to hike alone through nature. There are no overflowing tourist highlights. I enjoy exploring nature with my camera and taking pictures that show a special mood.

It’s certainly not as exciting as nearby Saxon Switzerland to the southeast, but no less photogenic. The variety of motifs ranges from nature reserves to historic castles, monasteries, palaces and geological features. The stations presented here – from the Altzella monastery via Rochlitzer Berg to Grimma – are spread over the entire area of the Muldental.
