Mexico City.- The explosion of a fuel pipe was reported this Saturday in the Municipality of Tula, Hidalgo, in the vicinity of a gas station, which left at least two people dead and four more injured, according to preliminary reports.

Salvador Cruz Neri, secretary of Public Security of the entity, reported in a radio interview the balance of the victims, in addition to 10 burnt-out vehicles.

This mishap was due to human error in the establishment of Colonia Iturbe and the fire spread throughout the supply station, according to the Hidalgo Public Security Secretariat (SSPH).

“A pipe that was carrying hydrocarbon gives rise to the explosion that spreads throughout the station, this, caused by human error,” the agency said.

The outbreak caused the closure of Tula-Tlahuelilpan at COBAEH Iturbe.

“The H. Fire Department and Civil Protection are carrying out the necessary maneuvers to control the incident,” added the SSPH.

The Directorate of Civil Protection and the Tula Fire Department recorded the events around 8:00 a.m.

National Guard sources indicated that the highway is closed to allow relief work and that several families were evacuated for their safety.
