The Judiciary admits the seizure of eight properties belonging to Alejandro Toledo and Eliane Karp for processing

Alexander Toledo He set foot on Peruvian territory last Sunday, April 23, to face Peruvian justice. Just one day after his arrival, the Specialized Transitory Court for Asset Forfeiture of Lima admitted for processing an asset forfeiture claim against eight properties of the former president and his family.

The properties that would be seized are those located in Punt Sal (Tumbes) and in the urbanization camacho, in the district of La Molina (Lima). Both properties are in the name of the former president and his wife, Eliane Karp.

Also, a house, three parking lots and two warehouses, which are located in the district of Santiago de Surco. These properties are in the name of the mother-in-law of the head of state, Eva Fernunbug, from whom a bank account for the sum of USD 42,237.70 would also be seized, “plus corresponding interest”.

According to the information of the Power of attorney, This lawsuit seeks to declare the Peruvian State as the owner of the rights, under the representation of the National Program of Seized Assets (PRONABI) in a definitive manner.

This lawsuit was filed by the Sixth Transitory Provincial Prosecutor for Asset Forfeiture. According to the tax thesis, these properties were acquired with the millionaire bribes that the Brazilian company Odebrecht would have given to former president Toledo.

Given this, the Judiciary specified that it will notify the wife and mother-in-law of the former president. Meanwhile, Alejandro Toledo “corresponds to summon him with the demand, annexes, cars” and this resolution.

At first, Alejandro Toledo justified that the properties acquired by his mother-in-law were with the compensation that was granted to him as a victim of the Holocaust. However, it was learned that he was not on this list.

These properties are under the administration of the National Commission of Seized Assets (Conabi). This after having been seized due to the alleged purchase with illicit money that Toledo would have received, as his friend and businessman stated at one point, Josef Maiman.

At the identification control hearing held on Sunday, April 23, Toledo provided his address for one of the seized properties, precisely the one located in La Molina.
