In the ice hockey league NHL, the Edmonton Oilers stand and fall with their star duo Connor McDavid–Leon Draisaitl. On Friday, the team still delivered on a wide front in the 7–1 victory over the San Jose Sharks.
The Edmonton Oilers are fighting to make the playoffs. On Friday, the team solidified its position as eighth in the West by beating the San Jose Sharks 7–1.
It was done and done after 40 minutes as Edmonton led 5-0. When 52.14 had been played, Jesse Puljujärvi extended the score to 6–0 with his fourth goal of the season.
Puljujärvi stood on the blue line when he himself stopped a lousy play from Nick Cicek. The puck then went via Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to Puljujärvi, who from close range splashed the puck behind Kaapo Kähkönen in San Jose’s goal.

The season has also been tough for Puljujärvi, whose balance in 44 games is now written 4+6=10 points. Edmonton played with only eleven forwards and in the formation protocol Puljujärvi was in the incomplete fourth chain together with Warren Foegele.

Winnipeg continues to deliver
The Winnipeg Jets have been impressive this season. In the away game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, it was a 4–1 victory and Winnipeg is fighting for the division victory in the West. Kasperi Kapanen played until Pittsburgh’s 1–1 tie late in the first period.
Winnipeg head coach Rick Bowness is pleased.
– One of our best matches this year. No stowaways, everyone contributed, says Bowness on the NHL website.
For Winnipeg, the victory was the seventh in the last eight games. A week ago, the team received positive news when the important attackers Nikolaj Ehlers, Cole Perfetti and Blake Wheeler and the defender Nate Schmidt made a comeback after an injury break.
Above all, Ehlers, who missed almost three months, has impressed greatly. The balance in the five games after the comeback is 3+5=8 points.
