Sony continues to expand its offer and brings new games from its PlayStation catalog to PC. While Returnal and The Last of Us Part 1 will soon land on PC, a new popular license has been spotted on Steam. Fans quickly fired up, but disappointment soon replaced excitement.
The return of a cult PlayStation license on PC? No, and the fans are disappointed
According to the recent discovery of some ResetEra users, it is the famous license LittleBigPlanet which was supposed to be back on Steam soon. A franchise that has notably made the good days of the PlayStation 3 to the point of becoming a real mascot. And after porting Sackboy, that might make sense, except there’s one big catch. It may well be that this is all just plain trolling.
As some fans claimed on ResetErathe first three games LittleBigPlanet were spotted on SteamDB, which scans Steam database entries. The games would even be recorded for a little while already, which is already rather curious. The other problem, and not the least, is that the titles are currently presented as being DLC belonging to a certain Gorilla Engine. An application that simply does not exist on the platform and whose logos seem to have come out of nowhere.
A bad joke, but fans really want to review the license
The disappointment is very great among fans who hoped to see Sackboy again in his first adventures. Many hope that the franchise will soon return to PS5, and others would like the first three LittleBigPlanet be subject to remasters.
LittleBigPlanet, with its original concept, was able to mark its time. The studio behind the franchise, Media Moleculefor its part gave birth to Dreams by transcending its concept initiated with the series LittleBigPlanet. The game was a hit and continues to impress years after its release, but it too has not had the chance to be remastered on PS5, or even to be ported to PC. Maybe the game will soon get a second life with the PSVR 2 or that it will finally have the right to a PC port a little later. Fans are waiting for this.
For the time being, therefore, no Media Molecule game has planned to return to PS5 or PC. If you want to enjoy LittleBigPlanet 1 & 2, you’ll have to get out your good old PS3. LittleBigPlanet 3 is available on PS4. Sackboy, on the other hand, has already had the right to his solo adventure on PS5 and even a port on PC. A new game is also planned for mobile. It’s always taken while waiting for a possible return of the old games of the franchise.
