While there are more and more reports relating to PlayStation 5 units with a malfunctioning optical reader, social media is once again talking about the hypothetical arrival of new models of the latest generation Sony console.

It was the blameless one who revived the argument Tom Henderson, one of the most famous and reliable insiders among those currently in business. According to the words of the Twitter user, it is really unlikely that the Japanese giant is about to announce to the world a new model of PlayStation 5 and it is instead plausible that the future announcement concerns a revised version of the current console on sale in stores.

The reason why it is believed that the smallest and most powerful models are not about to hit the shelves is very simple: if the PS5 Slim or Pro were to come out, Sony would have no reason why discontinue production of the standard model, which would appear to be happening instead. This implies that the upcoming PS5 is identical to the one available, with the only differences being the cost of production and the much talked about presence of an external optical reader.

Anderson says he’s not so sure if an enhanced version of the console will arrive by the end of the generation and that rumors are more often referring to PS6 than to PS5 Pro. Obviously we are in the field of hypotheses and we will have to wait a little longer to find out if all the rumors are true.

Waiting to find out more, we remind you that on our pages you can find the review of the DualSense Edge, the PlayStation 5 pro controller.
