since its launch Pokémon GO introduced its players to raids, which is to say, since 2017, they haven’t changed much. Up to 20 trainers each choose six Pokémon to battle together against an immensely powerful foe.

Raids later became one of the only forms of Legendaries in Pokémon GO and Mega Energy for Mega Evolutions. And in 2020, Niantic introduced Remote Raids, allowing players to team up no matter where they are.

But now that remote raids are locked behind a paywall and trainers are struggling to find local communities to raid with, players are starting to wish Niantic would make Pokémon GO raids more like Tera raids from Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Pokémon GO players want solo raids

So far, raids are a great way to play with friends in Pokémon GO, where many players have been frustrated by their difficulty, because while one to three star raids can be beaten solo, bringing seven or more trainers to raids four stars and above is required to succeed.

Which has annoyed some players who don’t have access to a local community, and now that a Reddit user Ighorlobianco posted: “I see so many raids that I can’t do it due to lack of people/community, if it was possible alone I would give it a lot more money to Niantic”. In the caption of his post, he asked the question: “If raids could be done solo, but with fewer rewards, would you do more raids?”

It was there that most users agreed, and also shared a similar position in the sense that they were only concerned about Pokémon, Candy and Mega Energy: the rest of the rewards could disappear.

This is in contrast to Tera Raids from Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Now while it still offers quite a challenge, skilled players can train the right Pokemon to take them on their own. While Scarlet & Violet players receive their fair share of rewards for defeating Raid bosses, Pokémon GO players seem willing to forego their rewards for solo four and five star Raids.
