Dwayne Brown (Departamento de Policía Metropolitana de Las Vegas)

A man was shot outside Caesars Palace last month, according to police, after an argument over beer.

On July 30, at about 1:50 pm, a man was shot at a bus stop on Las Vegas Boulevard, outside Caesars Palace. Witnesses told police that one man had shot another after arguing over beer, according to the Metropolitan Police Department arrest report.

The man was taken to University Medical Center. Doctors determined that he had been shot in the arm, but that the bullet had lodged in his abdomen and fragments of it would be permanently inside the man.

The next day, police released footage of the suspected shooter, who was seen walking through the Caesars lobby. Using surveillance footage and a tip, police identified 31-year-old Dwayne Brown as the suspected shooter.

On August 5, police found Brown going into a store near Flamingo Road and Arville Street. After a brief struggle, police arrested Brown, who was carrying a silver revolver in a bag.

Brown was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon with a permit and discharging a firearm in a populated area.

According to the report, Brown was convicted three times in New York on charges that were written up by police. As a condition of his release from prison in 2019, Brown was not allowed to possess firearms. Brown’s local criminal history included charges of robbery, assault, stalking, and robbery.

Brown remains in custody without bail and is due to appear in court on August 23.
