The authorities confirmed this Saturday to Telenoticias that there was a relationship between 13-year-old Gabriela Caban Cruz and the 27-year-old subject who brought her dead – with no visible signs of violence – at about 6:25 am on Friday to the San Sebastián CDT.
According to the Police, Melanie Cruz, the minor’s mother, was aware of the relationship. Earlier on Friday, the woman had said that she did not know the subject, but later she alleged that her daughter had brought him to her house “as a normal friend.”
Cruz told Telenoticias that her daughter had a “woman’s mentality”, smoked “vaping” and that at her young age she had sexual relations. She assured that the minor escaped and blamed her partner for the death. The 27-year-old man has a criminal record for controlled substances.
Regarding the investigation, Sergeant Irizarry of the Aguadilla command said that “no one is ruled out as a suspect in this investigation.”
In a press release, the Police had already announced that they are investigating multiple angles in collaboration with various divisions and the support of the Aguadilla Prosecutor’s Office of the Department of Justice.
In a press release, they highlighted that “a minor of that age does not have the capacity to consent to a relationship of this type. So it’s all part of the investigation.”
“By virtue of public policy, the process is carried out in accordance with the femicide investigation protocol, although it contemplates multiple angles in this initial stage,” they indicated.
