Houston authorities released a report of more than a thousand pages with testimonies and interviews from people who attended the Astroworld 2021 festival, organized by Travis Scott, where 9 people died and another 300 were injured.
Travis Scott released his fourth and long-awaited studio album ‘Utopia’, which shone on the internet for several collaborations and even a song that seems to have a dedication to Timothée Chalamet. However, none of that prevented the album’s theme from being overshadowed by what happened in ‘Astroworld’.
Although the tragedy – where 9 people died – occurred in November 2021, Travis Scott has not been able to leave behind the criticism for the festival he organized in the city of Houston, in Texas. Especially now that the authorities have already revealed the final report of what happened.
The Houston authorities released the final report on what happened at ‘Astroworld’
Houston police released a 1266 page report which include interviews with festivalgoers who were injured in the event and who told police about the moments of terror they experienced during the festival organized by Travis Scott.
But the document also indicates that the responsibility could not be exactly the rapper, but his team, Well, a security guard at the event reported that when he asked them for the singer to stop the show, they refused.
Travis Scott’s team is accused of not having stopped the festival in time
According to the testimony that the security guard gave to the authorities, Travis Scott’s team did not want to tell the rapper to stop his show because Drake was a guest on stage and still had three songs to perform.
The man assured that told the Astroworld team that the situation at the festival was more urgent to have Drake onstage, however, one of them “actively impeded anyone’s ability to stop the show.”

Houston police also interviewed Drake and asked him if he noticed what happened when he sang in Astroworld. The Canadian singer said it was hard to see if anything was happening, as there were a lot of lights on the stage and he hadn’t had a chance to rehearse on it before.
Drake also mentioned that he didn’t hear anyone in the audience yelling to stop the show, but said it was probably because his earpiece isolates outside noise. In fact the rapper did not find out what happened at the festival until hours later when his manager told him what happened.
Travis Scott said he didn’t notice anything that happened at his festival
For his part, Travis Scott told Houston police that someone on his earpiece told him to stop the Astroworld show. after having Drake as a guest (which would confirm the testimony given by the security guard).
The singer said he had no idea of the chaos that was taking place at the festival, since his visibility was not very good because he was on a raised platform, and for that reason he asked people if they were okay. And since the majority responded with shouts of euphoria, she believed them.
He found out until he returned to his trailer after the show at Astroworld.
Travis said that at some point he was told that he had to end the set with Drake on orders from the police and they never informed him about the serious situation that existed within the festival where dozens of people received CPR and medical attention.
The rapper explained that he did not find out anything until he went to his trailer. “Travis says he thought only one person was in trouble, but then he was told two people needed CPR and That’s when he started wondering what was going on.”says the report quoted by TMZ.
The trial against Astroworld and those responsible will continue
Although a jury in Houston, Texas, determined in June of last year that Travis Scott will not face criminal charges for the Astroworld festival tragedy, the rapper still faces civil lawsuits from the families of those affected.
In fact, if it turns out that the people on Travis Scott’s team prevented the show from being stopped when asked, the legal situation of the artist and the people involved could change. Something that will be known in the coming months.
