Police rescued a 12-year-old girl who was kidnapped early Monday morning by a man in Duval County, Florida.
After the Florida Department of Law Enforcement activated an Amber Alert around 9:30 am. On the morning of this Monday, the sheriff’s deputies rescued Fernanda Arias, a 12-year-old girl reported as kidnapped, according to what she revealed in a note from Local 10 News.
Detectives stopped Jorge Reyes, who they suspected was driving a dark Honda when he abducted Fernanda around 3:00 am.
The agents informed the media that they had detained Reyes in the vicinity of the girl’s house.
“The victim has been located and this remains an active investigation. Thank you to everyone who helped spread this information,” Jacksonville police said on Twitter.
However, the authorities did not provide details about the circumstances of the kidnapping or whether there was a link of any kind between the perpetrator of the crime and the girl.
With Fernanda’s case resolved, Florida still had seven active Amber Alerts. The list includes two cold cases from Miami-Dade County.
Last month, a Man tried to kidnap a 10-year-old girl in front of his house and the moment was captured by the security cameras of a neighboring family.
Kassidy was playing volleyball in front of her house in Murrieta, with her father, Michael Angodung, when he went in to drink water and during that time an individual stalked the girl and tried to kidnap her.
The unknown man was walking on the sidewalk, approached Kassidy and asked her to show him a shirt.
At the beginning of the year, a resident of Pembroke Park, in South Florida, risked his life to prevent the kidnapping of a child.
Pembroke Park Police Department spokeswoman Ra Shana Dabney-Donovan said a Pembroke Park resident witnessed another resident, identified as George Rudolph Pratt, 65, grab a boy and try to force him into his apartment.
After realizing what could happen, the neighbor asked Prat for a beer and entered the apartment with the minor.
