Neos boss Scheffknecht looks back on almost ten years.
Sabine Scheffknecht will give up her party leadership at the general meeting of Vorarlberg’s NEOS on February 4th. The EU mandatary Claudia Gamon could follow the entrepreneur at the head of NEOS. At the beginning of the week, the Covini managing director spoke about her political work and the upcoming tasks at state level in “Vorarlberg LIVE”.
On March 22, 2014, Sabine Scheffknecht became state spokeswoman for Neos Vorarlberg. “It was important to us at the time to reduce bureaucracy and look at education, which we also tackled,” explained Scheffknecht on Monday evening at “Vorarlberg LIVE”. Looking back, it was exciting for her to take over an organization that is growing. At that time, the Neos “only had three to four handfuls of people in the country, today there are hundreds involved.” She is proud that this has been achieved.
In an interview with moderator Marc Springer, she admitted that politics was a culture shock for her. “I was surprised by the resistance,” she recalled. She also didn’t want to get used to the slow wheels that grind in politics. “We also stand for demanding speed and looking beyond the legislative period,” said Scheffknecht. She found it good that Neos’ ideas, such as the land transfer tax, which young people should no longer pay in the future, are being taken up by other parties.

One issue she feels needs to be addressed is childcare. “Because there is a lack of childcare, there is a lack of well-trained women on the labor market,” said the mother of two about the shortage of skilled workers.
