Pope Francis: trans women are "daughters of God"

DRAFTING.- He Pope Francisco has once again shown openness towards the LGBTQIA+ community, indicating that transsexuals are also «daughters of god«.

The statement was made in an interview with the Spanish magazine Vida Nueva, which he gave before his trip to Portugal for World Youth Day (WYD) and which was published this Friday.

In the conversation, the Pope recalled the first time he received a group of transgender women in the Vatican.

«They left crying, saying that he had given them a hand, a kiss … As if he had done something exceptional with them. But they are daughters of God!” Francis said.

The Pontiff added that “Jesus teaches not to set limits” and that the Church must remain open. «Dialogue with everyone is something that Jesus taught us. And I say more: when someone closes the dialogue, it is a sign of weakness. If the Church does not have what Jesus taught, it is not the Church », he emphasized.

At the end of July, the Pope had already said on the official Vatican podcast that “God loves us just as we are”, in response to a question from a transgender person.

Although he considers homosexuality a sin, Francis defends the acceptance of all within the Church.
