Driving style and car brand: is there a connection? A survey of German drivers shows it – and very clearly.

The most aggressive drivers on Germany’s roads usually sit in a BMW. This is the result of a representative survey by leasingmarkt.de and the survey institute Innofact. t-online shows the results of the survey.

Almost 90 percent of those surveyed are therefore convinced that there is a connection between the car brand and driving style. And apparently, the larger the car, the more aggressive the driver.

  • According to the survey, speeders and pushers usually drive a luxury model from BMW (62 percent), Mercedes (44 percent) or Porsche (37 percent).
  • The mid-range cars from Volkswagen and Opel also occupy the middle places in the ranking.
  • In smaller models, for example from Ford (2 percent) and Seat (also 2 percent), on the other hand, more level-headed drivers sit behind the wheel. Of course, these cars often have weaker engines and are not necessarily built for the left lane.

Those are the top ten

1,021 car drivers were asked: Which car brands are the drivers of which car brands are probably the most aggressive on the road (cutting lanes, jostling, flashing the headlights, etc.)? Here are the results:

The survey also shows that young drivers in particular are obviously convinced that there is a connection between the brand and driving style. Aggressive driving behavior can be attributed to specific car brands for 94 percent of drivers under the age of 30. Among older drivers aged 50 and over, only 83 percent believe that drivers are mainly in cars of certain brands.

Note: The survey reflects the impressions of the respondents. Even if it is representative, its results do not automatically correspond to what is actually happening on the road.
