He Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) filed a complaint against the president Andrés Manuel López Speaker for early campaign acts before the National Electoral Institute (INE).
According to Ángel Ávila Romero, representative of the PRD before him INEthe complaint was filed on May 11 “due to the statements of the President of the Republic when calling on all citizens to vote for the candidates of Brunette in the 2024 Election.”
“These are facts and actions anticipated by the campaign,” Ávila Romero said in an audio to report on the complaint of the PRD. He added that, in a crude way, the president violates articles 41 and 134 of the Constitution.
“Constitutional 41 establishes the principles of any democratic system, which are the principle of equity, equality, certainty and transparency. The president (López Obrador) is violating equity because he is using all the force of the State to benefit his political party, ”he said.
In the case of the article 134he said, “where it is established that officials cannot use public resources to favor a political party”, President López Obrador also violates the article, because “of course the morning (conferences) are paid for with money and public resources ”.
Ávila Romero mentioned that the fact of using government facilities to make comments like the President did, is a public matter.
“I hope that now INE Complaints Commission set very clear limits on any public official who wants to intervene in electoral issues, something that of course is prohibited. Officials, of any level of government, regardless of whether it is the President of the Republic, are prohibited from meddling in electoral matters, ”he said.
The PRD complaint refers to the comments that President López Obrador made during his morning conference on May 11, where he pointed out that the policies implemented by his government would not be made by conservatives.
“Well, you have to vote, you have to vote, you have to vote, not only for the candidate for president, you have to vote for the legislators, for the candidates for deputies and senators, so that the transformation has a qualified majority,” he said.
The head of the Executive generated a series of questions for citizens to make the decision to vote if they wanted the “transformation” to continue.
“Do you want the corrupt to return? You already know who you are going to vote for. Do you want the transformation to continue? Also, you know. Do you want classism to continue, to continue humiliating you? You already know who you are going to vote for. Do you want racism to continue? You already know who you are going to vote for”, mentioned the president.
“Do you want the discrimination to continue? You already know who you are going to vote for. Do you want the nation’s assets to continue being delivered to individuals and foreigners? You already know who you have to vote for. Do you want the poor to come first for the good of all? You also know who you are going to vote for.
President López Obrador also pointed out that if the citizens wanted “pensions for the elderly to continue? You already know who you are going to vote for. Do you want the ministers of the Court to continue earning 500, 600 thousand pesos a month? You already know who you are going to vote for. Everything is very clear. Therefore, it is good that all these issues are emerging. Do you want the media to continue manipulating? You already know who you are going to vote for. Do you want to continue having millionaire journalists, with residences and departments abroad? You know who you’re going to vote for.”
