Up to 50 liters of rain per square meter have accumulated in Austria since Wednesday morning until noon today. According to ORF meteorologists, the intense precipitation from eastern to upper Austria will continue until tomorrow. The heavy precipitation cannot eliminate the deficit of the past few months, but according to GeoSphere Austria it can at least mitigate it.

Snow: Vehicles stuck on A2 and A21
In some regions of Lower Austria, the late winter driving conditions caused problems on the roads. Cars and trucks kept getting stuck on the southern motorway (A2) and the Vienna outer ring motorway (A21).

Avalanche danger increased
The avalanche danger in Carinthia increased after the unusually heavy snowfall of the last 24 hours. In the Tauern and in the mountains in the south, the danger with levels three and four is significant or great. This means that avalanches can come off even with a small additional load.
