The president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, refers to the process initiated against the nation’s attorney general, Patricia Benavides, who in turn is investigating her for the deaths in the anti-government protests of 2022 and 2023.

Boluarte called for calm and tranquility, accompanied by the cabinet of ministers in a room of the Government Palace.
He stated that Benavides has to respond to the corresponding authorities in a clear and precise manner. And this is due to the investigation opened by the anti-corruption unit of the Prosecutor’s Office, which accuses the attorney general of leading an alleged criminal network of influence peddling.
Boluarte assured that the complaint filed against him by prosecutor Benavides is a political maneuver with which he intends to “distract the attention” of citizens.
