In the coming days, Energie und Wasser Potsdam GmbH (EWP) will send several thousand annual bills to its customers in the district heating sector and to some of the gas and electricity customers. Because of the cyber attack on the city of Potsdam and the associated shutdown of the system at the municipal utilities, the letters were only sent to households now and not, as usual, at the beginning of January, the company said.

An important part of the annual statement is the offsetting of the December aid for gas and district heating customers. Eckard Veil, Managing Director of EWP explains: “Customers will find the December help listed in the statement and can thus read their individual relief amount.” The implementation of the first stage of the price brake is a major challenge for EWP due to the high time pressure.

The annual statement also includes the new individual advance payment plan, which only applies to January and February. The second stage of the price brake will take effect from March. This would result in significantly lower deductions, the public utility announced. “We are working at full speed to implement everything cleanly and smoothly for our customers,” said EWP Managing Director Christiane Preuss.

EWP customer service can be reached on (0331) 661 3000 if you have any questions about the payment plans or if you have problems paying bills.
