The Amazon Prime Video SVOD platform is now enriched with a new, ultra-practical feature that will relieve more than one viewer.

A new Prime Video that fixes sound problems
Who has never grabbed their remote control to increase the sound of a program in order to better hear the dialogues, and quickly lower it during an explosion? If you’ve ever experienced this, Amazon has rolled out a new feature ” Dialogue Boost on its SVOD platform Prime Video. An option that allows for more intelligible dialogues that are not drowned out by other sounds (music, sound effects).
In a one-on-one with TechCrunch media, the giant explains that this feature is entirely AI-based. The audio of a film or a TV series, for example, is then analyzed by artificial intelligence in order to identify the passages where the dialogues are parasitized by ambient sounds. When these parts are identified, Prime Video’s “Dialogue Boost” kicks in to boost the volume of the dialogue. However, it is not automatic.
It’s up to Prime Video subscribers to open the audio/subtitles menu, then select Dialogue Boost to activate it. There are three levels “Low”, “Medium” and “High”. A feature that has been implemented to make the Amazon platform ever more inclusive according to Raf Soltanovich, vice president of technology.

Is Dialogue Boost available on all movies and TV shows?
At this point, the Dialogue Boost is available on a large number of Prime Video Originals programs. The list will grow, but for this launch, we can mention among others Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, The Fabulous Mrs. MaiselFleabag, Being the Ricardos or Harlem etc To have the right, it is imperative to watch one of these series in English (VO / VOSTFR). Amazon hasn’t revealed plans for other languages, but we imagine that will take longer. Provided that the firm intends to expand the Dialogue Boost to other languages.
We obviously took care to check with our subscription, and yes, the Dialogue Boost is available now in France. For all Prime Video subscribers and regardless of the medium (TV, mobile). As said above, you just have to open the audio / subtitles menu and choose one of the three “English Dialogue Boost” levels. Amazon specifies that it is currently the only platform of this caliber to offer this functionality, but it will certainly give ideas to Netflix, Disney+ or Paramount+ to do the same.
