As mentioned by Timesthe recent broadcast on Netflix of the documentary Harry & Meghan which revealed in particular the underside of the departure of the couple towards a new life, rather benefited William and Kate. According to the YouGov poll, 44% of respondents said they had more sympathy for the future royal couple. Against 17% for Meghan and Harry.

Would the documentary have produced the opposite effect of what was expected? For 23% of respondents, Harry & Meghan in any case degraded the image they had of the couple, while for only 7% the documentary improved the image they had of them.
A feeling perhaps maintained by the British press, which the day after the broadcast of the documentary, largely supported William and Kate, titling on their “dignity” in the face of the “treachery” of the Sussexes. The Prince of Wales and his wife, no more than King Charles III, have made no comment on the documentary series, which does not, however, spare them.
Over the six episodes of this documentary, Meghan and Harry spoke at length about their difficulties within the royal family, but also in the face of harassment from the tabloids, sometimes guided according to them, by members of the royal family. They also denounced the systemic racism of the country and the royal family.

In 2021, a year after their withdrawal from the royal family, the Sussexes definitively renounced to exercise their responsibilities in this context, and renounced their official titles. Prince Harry was also stripped of his military titles by decision of the Queen. He was thus unable to wear his uniform during the funeral of the sovereign last September.
