Juarez City.- The Department of Ecology issued a series of recommendations for caring for pets during the summer season in a statement.

César Díaz Gutiérrez, head of the agency, gave as his first recommendation to avoid taking pets for a walk in the hottest hours of the day, that is, between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. If it is necessary to remove them, it is recommended to do it early in the morning or in the afternoon, when temperatures are cooler.

Another important recommendation is to provide fresh and clean water at all times, as well as make sure that the water container does not get hot from the sun and change it frequently to prevent it from getting dirty, he indicated.

It is also important to provide a cool and shady place for the pet to rest, since if it spends most of its time outdoors, it is recommended to place an artificial shade to protect it from the sun.

Díaz Gutiérrez emphasized not leaving the pet in the car, since the temperature inside can rise rapidly, even with the windows open, and this can be fatal for these animals.

Another important recommendation is not to cut your pet’s hair too short in summer, since the hair acts as a thermal insulator and protects the skin from the sun and sunburn, as well as helping to keep the skin hydrated and fresh.

The official recommended preventing the pet from doing intense exercise during hot hours, as this can cause heat stroke, so if it shows signs of exhaustion or heat, such as excessive panting, weakness or vomiting, it is necessary to take it immediately to the vet. .

The director of Ecology pointed out that it is the responsibility of pet owners to protect them from the heat and ensure that they are comfortable and safe during the summer season, what can be done are these recommendations.
