Lima Peru.- The Peruvian National Police guards this Wednesday the Velasco Astete airport, in Cusco, where hundreds of protesters tried to take over the vicinity.

The RPP television channel assured that clashes have been reported in the region, where several points towards the airport have been closed.

Puno, Arequipa and other regions continue to report roadblocks by protesters demanding the resignation of President Dina Boluarte, early elections and the dissolution of Congress.

In Puno, hundreds of people walking the streets before noon (local time) with the coffins of the deceased in the region, where 17 protesters and a policeman lost their lives.

For its part, the United States on Wednesday called for “moderation” and that the use of force against the demonstrations in Peru be reduced “to a minimum,” while supporting the opening of an investigation into the repression that caused dozens of deaths.
