The province of Buenos Aires will advance this year with the duplication of workshops to carry out the Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV)as confirmed this Thursday by the Buenos Aires Minister of Transportation himself, Jorge D’Onofrio. The initiative will avoid long delays and will include a co-participation for the municipalities that have plants to carry out the controls, which will charge part of the costs of these inspections.

The official stated that in the course of this 2023 a new tender will be opened to concession the service and duplicate in the territory the workshops to carry out the VTV.

“We are going to be not only practically doubling the number of workshops and verification lines, but also for the periphery, for the smaller towns, there will be a mobile VTV system”said the minister in statements to LU6 Atlantic Radio. This mobile VTV system, which will be reinforced, will make it possible to anticipate the date on which the verification can be carried out in each locality “so that people can plan it.”

D’Onofrio stated that in the new VTV system, which “is about to be put out to tender”, the municipalities “are going to have a co-participation of what is collected”. In addition, he said that the databases will be crossed so that “every time the image appears on a camera that detects patents, it comes out (if that vehicle) has VTV or not.”

The province currently has some 60 plants to carry out VTV, which costs $3,150 per vehicle up to 2,500 kg. It should be remembered that according to the new regulation, once the driver attends to carry out the VTV according to its current expiration month indicated in the last wafer that was pasted on the windshield and having approved the revision, the plant personnel will grant an extra month of expiration that will be assigned according to the last number of the patent.
