Already two years since the PS5 was released. Since then, Sony’s console has improved with updates. Sony has just rolled out a new beta update that lets us see what’s coming soon to the PS5.
The new social functions of the PS5
The Playstation 5 continues to evolve and Sony is already offering a new version in beta to benefit the most impatient players. If you want to be part of it, you have to go to the tab Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings. Then select Update System Software (Beta) > Update.
Be careful though, you need an adult account and verify beforehand to access beta updates. Another thing, the changes are likely to be slightly different when the update finally rolls out.
The major novelty will be the arrival of Discord directly on your console. Today, the majority of PC gamers use Discord to communicate with their allies, but also to gather around servers dedicated to a specific community. To take advantage of this, you will need to link your Discord account to your Playstation Network account. Thus, your friends will be able to see what game you are playing and be able to join you directly in voice to play with you.
Second, you can now share your screen or request a screen share from your friends, directly from their Playstation profile. You can share your content directly with your friends, so that they can discover the game you are playing.
On your friends’ profile, you can also directly join their current multiplayer game, as well as being able to directly check your friends’ game list.
Playstation continues its multimedia and connected policy so that you can enjoy your friends directly on a daily basis, to chat with them or directly join them in game. Features that Sony’s console lacked.
In the United States and Great Britain, players will be able to test the new feature “Hey Playstation!” which allows us to give orders directly to our console, whether to take screenshots and even capture gameplay.
Better interface and VRR for 1440p
Of course, you shouldn’t just add new features without making them accessible. For this, Sony offers an improvement to the interface of your game library. You can now filter your games by certain criteria and put them in lists. For example, your VR games will be directly in a folder in order to find them more easily.
With this update, Sony is finally taking the lead in making it easier for you to transfer your PS4 data to your PS5. Your saves can thus be transmitted directly to your new console simply when you download a PS4 game on PS5.
VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support is also available for 1440p (2K) resolution. If you’re playing on a QHD monitor you can now enjoy dynamic framerate in this resolution. To do this, you just have to go to your graphics options and check if your screen is in 1440p.
All these new features are still in beta and some features are only available in Great Britain and the United States. Discord support is finally coming and the general ergonomics of the interface will be greatly improved.
