CDMX.– R. Kelly was sentenced this Thursday to an additional year in prison for child pornography in the city of Chicago. The singer already has a 30-year prison sentence for sexual abuse.

Last year, the singer was found guilty for the crimes of producing child pornography and inciting minors to commit criminal sexual activities in the city of Chicago.

Judge Harry Leinenweber handed down the sentence, giving R. Kelly 20 years in prison but 19 of those years can be served along with the sentence he is currently serving for a federal racketeering conviction in New York. It will be one year after the New York sentence is completed.

“No matter what he does, Mr. Kelly is not walking out the door after today or for the next 20 years,” Leinenweber said.

Currently the interpreter of “I Believe I Can Fly” is 56 years old, so when he completes his sentence he will be over 70 years old.

With this verdict, the legal case of R. Kelly would come to an end, since for years he has faced trials for child abuse and rape.

The singer is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence in New York, where he was convicted of child pornography, incitement, blackmail and sex trafficking.
