This individual, who works on an American military base according to several testimonies, is at the head of an online discussion group where the documents were shared.

The case is taken extremely seriously by the Pentagon. Last week, classified documents, some top secret, were published online after a massive leak. These detail Washington’s views on the war in Ukraine and appear to indicate intelligence gathering on close US allies.

The Pentagon deemed that this disclosure of confidential documents represented a “very serious risk” for American national security, and the Department of Justice opened a criminal investigation.

Racist and gun enthusiast

For his part, the Washington Post also investigated this dissemination of classified documents.

In a long investigation dedicated to this subject, the American media was able to trace the origin of the leak and the one by whom the scandal was born: a young racist and firearms enthusiast who rages on various social networks under the initials “OG”. He works on an American military base, which gives him access to sensitive documents he may have seized.

On the Discord platform, this same “OG” created a discussion in 2020 bringing together several dozen firearms and video game enthusiasts. Asked by the Washington Post on condition of anonymity, one of the members of this discussion confirms that several hundred of these documents have indeed been shared there.

The man not located

According to several testimonies, the famous “OG” has “a dark vision of the government” and frequently denounces “the excess of power of the government. “He is fully aware of what is happening and the possible consequences”, adds this witness, who claims not to know the location of the alleged author of the leak.

In a final message on the platform, “OG” would however have asked his associates to “remain discreet and delete any information that may possibly concern him”, including copies of the diverted documents.

According to Guardianthese revelations of Washington Post rule out the possibility of a “hack” from a foreign country. On the other hand, they raise the question of access to these classified documents, authorized to 1.25 million people across the Atlantic.
