– In addition, the weather can change so that it rains but turns into snow. Weather like this is in the forecast now, says Finland’s head of dam Mika Venäläinen according to STT.
The forecasts in Planica are very uncertain and the herding teams have to work one day at a time.
– The latest forecasts are contradicting each other, and now it may even be sub-zero. It may even happen that the temperature does not rise above zero, says Venäläinen.

– We have tried to weed out the worse pairs of skis that the skiers have. We have tried to reduce the number of skis to make it easier for the skiers when they have to test them.
– If the weather continues like this, the choice of ski will be the most important factor. The equipment makes a big difference in these conditions, says Venäläinen.
Venäläinen is satisfied with the work opportunities in the competition area, but criticizes the places available to test skis.
– The test area is bad. Sure, it’s the same for everyone but there’s enough snow that they could provide us with something better, he says.
