A Los Angeles Superior Court judge sentenced rapper Tory Lanez on Tuesday to 10 years in prison for shooting and wounding the hip-hop artist in the foot Megan Thee Stallion after a party held at the model’s house Kylie Jennerlocated in Hollywood, in July 2020.
The 31-year-old Canadian singer was sentenced after being found guilty in December of three crimes: shot from a semi-automatic firearmassault with the same gun, and possession of it loaded and not registered in his name.

However, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford dismissed the petition: “Sometimes good people do bad things (…). Actions have consequences and there are no winners in this case,” he said.

Lawyers for Lanez, who has been in prison since was found guilty, they attempted a retrial claiming that Megan’s testimony about her client asking her not to go to the police because he was already on probation was false.
They had also argued that the DNA evidence used by prosecutors to identify Lanez as the shooter was not strong.

The rapper’s career began in 2009 and, after this event, he published albums such as “Alone At Prom” or “Playboy”, both released in 2021, which led him to continue increasing his number of listeners. Currently, it has more than 23.5 million monthly streams on the Spotify platform alone.
Megan Thee Stallion managed to win the Grammy for best new artist in 2021 and her singles “Savage” with Beyonce and the collaboration “WAP”, with Cardi B, reached number 1 on the US charts at times.
