The Golden Raspberry Awards or The Razzies as the gala is often known are the film world’s anti-Oscars. An event that aims to honor the absolute worst and worst from the film year that has been. Something that is done with a real scoop of humor and fans as well as actors rarely take it all particularly seriously. But this year the gala has ended up in windy weather after nominating Ryan Kiera Armstrong from Firestarter among the worst actresses of the year.
Something that pissed people off as she is only 12 years old and many former child actors have tweeted their support for Kiera and their views on the Razzies. Below you can read what Devon Sawa and Julian Hilliard wrote online.
“The Razzies are run by soulless people. Nominating a 12-year-old? F**k them. That child could grow to be amazing if you haven’t gotten in their head.”
“The razzies are already mean-spirited & classless, but to nominate a kid is just repulsive & wrong. Why put a kid at risk of increased bullying or worse? Be better.”
Razzie founder John Wilson later apologized in a statement and Kiera was removed from the nominees. He also mentioned that from now on, no one under the age of 18 will be able to be nominated for any of their awards.
