The Broadcasting Council of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb) elected the new rbb Board of Directors on Thursday (April 20, 2023). At their subsequent constitutive meeting in Potsdam, the members of the Board of Directors appointed Benjamin Ehlers as Chairman. The committee elected Dr. Dagmar Tille.
The board of directors controls the management of the artistic director with the exception of the content of the program offerings of rbb. The Board of Directors acts in an advisory and supportive capacity, particularly with regard to financial decisions. The Board of Directors, elected for a four-year term, has eight members who serve on this board on an honorary basis. It consists of seven members elected by the Broadcasting Council, including at least three women, and one staff council member elected by the staff council.
Oliver Bürgel, Chairman of the Broadcasting Council: “With the election of the Board of Directors, the Broadcasting Council has taken an important step towards an orderly future for rbb today. Public broadcasting and thus also rbb are faced with forward-looking decisions that are always measured against economic rationality The Board of Directors is the most important control body for all financial issues and is therefore of outstanding importance for the future of the station. I am sure that we in this body have the technical expertise that we need for the upcoming change processes. The Chairman, Benjamin Ehlers, I wish you every success and look forward to a close and trusting cooperation.”
The Board of Directors is elected for a four-year term of office. It does not meet in public.
